About Us

MoFin was founded in 2016 by Tyler Peters, a former mortgage-backed securities trader, and George Despotopoulos, a New York real estate attorney. MoFin began in the single-family rental loan sector, and we quickly expanded to meet the needs of our borrowers by providing fix & flip, commercial, and ground-up construction loans. Our goal has always been to provide our borrowers with flexible solutions, certainty of execution, and a simple, straight-forward approach.
Team | Tyler Peters

Tyler is a co-founder of MoFin Lending and leads its lending and capital markets efforts. Tyler has over 15 years of experience in the non-agency mortgage industry at investment banks including Lehman Brothers, Barclays, and Nomura. Tyler founded MoFin Lending in 2017 to focus on the single-family rental and bridge lending markets and is responsible for its lending programs and guidelines. Tyler has underwritten and closed over $500 million in fix & flip, ground-up, and DSCR loans with MoFin. Tyler graduated from the NYU Stern School of Business with a B.S. in Finance and currently lives in Delray Beach, Florida, with his wife and daughter.

Team | George Despotopoulos

George Despotopoulos is a co-founder of MoFin Lending and serves as in-house counsel but more so leads MoFin’s business development, sales, and marketing efforts. George has sourced and funded over 2,000 transactions and over $500 million in both fix & flip and DSCR loans to date. Prior to partnering with Tyler, George was an attorney practicing in New York City. He now establishes company relationships with borrowers, loan buyers, and works to grow and expand MoFin Lending’s reach in current and new markets. George graduated from St. John’s University School of Law with a JD. He lives alone, without a wife (he has a girlfriend, fingers crossed, let’s go George!) or kids, in New York City. Yes, he is lonely, which is why he fosters rescue dogs and constantly calls you to give you updates on your loan.

He holds a B.A. from the University of Chicago. Some of his interests include Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, golf and traveling with his wife and three children.

Team | Michael Cid

Michael Cid handles deal intake, analysis, and loan structuring. Prior to starting at MoFin, Michael successfully completed two fix and flips of his own and ran a highly-rated residential remodeling company in New Jersey for six years. His firsthand experience with property improvements and real estate investing enables him to provide valuable insight to MoFin’s borrowers on their own projects. Given his extensive background in renovation, he’s known around MoFin HQ as “The Toolman” (he’s always trying to fix things in the office and he loves the hit ABC sitcom “Home Improvement” — just ask him to give you the famous ol’ Tim Allen grunt on a call!). Michael graduated from the University of Connecticut with an individualized major in Property Management and Investment in 2019. Michael lives in the great state of NJ and works out of MoFin’s New York City office.
